Fred Gielow Posted here for March 26, 2018. The road back home Bank Street School, an elite Manhattan school, is teaching white students as young as six years old that they're born racist and should feel guilty benefiting from "white privilege." The school is separating all the whites in rooms where they're made to feel awful about their "whiteness," and all the "kids of color" in other rooms where they're taught to feel proud about their race and are rewarded with treats and other privileges. A "white privilege survey" was sent home with Aloha High School (Portland, Oregon) seniors. "The way this survey is read, it almost wants to like, shame you for being white," said Jason Schmidt, father of an Aloha High School senior. (Source.) Soldiers in the U.S. Army were subjected to a "white privilege" briefing during which they were advised that American society "attaches privilege to being white and male and heterosexual." (Source.) A two-day professional development conference held at the University of Michigan included a training session aimed to help white employees deal with their "whiteness" so they could become better equipped to fight for social justice causes. (Source.) A Purdue University engineering professor recently lamented the emphasis on academic "rigor," calling it a "dirty deed" that upholds "white male heterosexual privilege." (Source.) So, what exactly is "white privilege" and where did it come from? The term "white privilege" refers to societal privileges that benefit people whom society identifies as white in some countries, beyond what is commonly experienced by non-white people under the same social, political, or economic circumstances. (Source.) So, we're told, time and again, if you're white, you have an advantage. If you're not white, you have a disadvantage. But if this is true, why would whites commit suicide at twice the rate of blacks (and at a higher rate than any other race in America except American Indians)? (Source.) What about "two-parent privilege?" If you are raised by a father and mother, you enter adulthood with more privileges than anyone else in American society, irrespective of race, ethnicity, or sex. That's why the poverty rate among two-parent black families is only 7 percent. (Source.) What about "Asian privilege?" Asian Americans do better than white Americans in school, on IQ tests, on credit scores, and on numerous other measures. White privilege doesn't compare with Asian privilege. (Source.) What about "minority privilege?" As every high-school student knows, given similar scholastic and extra-curricular records, one's chances of being accepted into a prestigious college are considerably greater if one is a member of a minority, most especially the black minority. (Source.) Today, 17.3 million white Americans (about twice as many as African-Americans) are listed as living in poverty. More than 4 million white children live in poverty. These unprivileged white people live desperately, with widespread alcoholism, teen pregnancy, drug abuse, and unemployment. Their children can only dream of a college education. Are they all enjoying white privilege? (Source.) The major objective of the concept of white privilege is to portray blacks as victims. This achieves two huge goals for the Left. One is political, the other philosophical. The political goal is to ensure that blacks continue to view America as racist. The Left knows that the only way to retain political power in America is to perpetuate the belief among black Americans that their primary problem is white racism. Only then will blacks continue to regard the Left and the Democrats as indispensable. And so the Left has in effect created a system of actual "black privilege" to counter the non-existent "white privilege." No one will admit that. However . . . Blacks can belong to clubs and organizations that cater specifically to their race, but there's no National Association for the Advancement of White People because such a group would be deemed racist. Blacks can call white people "honky" and "cracker," but whites cannot use the N-word. (Source.) The concept of "white privilege" is one of the most creative schemes ever dreamed up to divide the races. (Source.) It is terminology to brand whites as a scapegoat for many of the problems of non-whites. It is also a way to attempt to condemn white people because of the color of their skin under the guise of "bringing about awareness only" of the unearned advantages of being white. Finally, it is an effort by the progressive Left to shame and punish a race for the sins of their ancestors who owned slaves and participated in Jim Crow laws, while denying this is their intent. All the while, their plan causes further dissension between whites and non-whites. (Source.) Increasingly, the idea that white people are responsible for the ills of minorities is being pushed in our society to the point that an all-out, genuine hatred for white people is taking hold. Students in our universities are being taught that America and her system of government and capitalism were designed explicitly for white men and that these constructs enable whites to exploit minorities for their own benefit. In other words, because of white privilege it is morally acceptable to discriminate against whites based purely on their race because they are privileged. (Source.) A little history: The race-based agenda of white privilege can be traced back to the communist, Antonio Gramsci, who authored "The Prison Notebooks," which outlined a detailed plan to march through the institutions of society and bring about social change. Gramsci understood that the traditional Marxist idea of dividing society into an oppressed class and an oppressor class had not worked. Therefore, he turned his gaze to cultural factors to divide society into numerous oppressed and opposing groups. White privilege starts with the premise whites have certain characteristics that give them an advantage over other races. If you choose to look no further, you've walked directly into a trap. Yes, whites do have certain advantages. Ah, but blacks have certain advantages, too. On average, they have less inhibition, so they often make better comedians and singers and performers.I think the point is that blacks and whites are not the same. It would be unreasonable to expect blacks and whites to attain equal achievements and outcomes. Different groups achieve different levels of success in different areas of endeavor. So, demanding equal performance is simply fool-hearty. If there is "white privilege," there is also "black privilege," and "Asian privilege," and "Hispanic privilege," and "tall privilege," and "short privilege," and "fat privilege," and "skinny privilege," and on and on. The whole idea of white privilege is to give blacks an excuse to hate whites. It's a way to turn one American against another. It's a clever scheme to round up votes from blacks for Democrats who constantly shout "white privilege" at us. Look how successful it has been. There's something more. In 1989, Peggy McIntosh published a list of statements which she suggests proves whites have white privilege. It seems clear to me the list was designed to stir up embarrassment and guilt in whites simply because whites are in the majority in many areas of the U.S. What a nasty thing to do! It appears Ms. McIntosh hates whites and hates herself. The list also insinuates that some situations are precipitated only because of racism. This is a very racist view. My guess is that most blacks and whites would respond to most of the statements in pretty much the same way. That Ms. McIntosh assumes otherwise is a measure of her racism, not that white privilege exists. "White privilege" is fundamentally a thoroughly racist idea. If you want people to get along with each other, you won't fall prey to the concept of white privilege. You won't sign up for the anti-American strategy of stirring up racism. You won't subscribe to the idea that just by being born white you are racist and are endowed with all sorts of special privileges over blacks. Recommended: "G.
